Things to Keep an Eye Out For on the Knicks Injury Report
}
The New York Knicks have not had a good season so far, with a 25-34 record, and currently sit in the No. 12 spot in the Eastern Conference. This season has been a major disappointment compared to their last season, when they finished the regular season with a 41-31 record and earned the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Here are a few things to keep an eye out for on the Knicks injury report.
Cam Reddish ruled out
A couple of days ago, news broke that Cam Reddish had been ruled out of the Knicks’ game against the Sacramento Kings. The Knicks announced that Reddish will miss the rest of the season and likely six weeks. After the injury, Reddish returned to practice, but he’ll be out for six weeks. Luckily, the Knicks have a healthy offseason to prepare him for the new season.
Obi Toppin ‘questionable’
Despite his hamstring injury, Obi Toppin is listed as ‘questionable’ in the New York Knicks’ injury report. Toppin is slated to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets. He has missed 10 games this season with the injury. He is expected to play at least 12.9 minutes and produce 5.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists in that time. His Friday FanDuel projection is 11.0 points.
RJ Barrett ‘out’
According to the Knicks injury report, RJ Barrett is ‘out’ of Sunday’s game against the Raptors. The Knicks’ top pick last year was out with a sprained right knee. Although Barrett didn’t return to the game during garbage time, he was hopeful that he could play against the Nets. Despite the injury, he has plenty of time to recover. The Knicks’ next game is February 25 against the Heat, a nationally-televised matchup.
Lance Thomas ‘out’
Despite being ‘out’ of the Knicks injury report for the second straight game, it’s no surprise to see the name Lance Thomas on it. The New York Knicks traded for the so-called Duke product, who was undrafted and had never played in the NBA before. He never was a star while at Duke, but understood his role in the program. This might have been why he has been ‘out’ of the Knicks’ injury report for so long.
Nerlens Noel ‘out’
Noel, a forward with a big role in the offense, is ‘out’ of the Knicks injury report for Game 2 against the Hawks. He has been ruled out of the series with a knee sprain but may be able to return if the Knicks advance. Nerlens Noel is a questionable player for Game 2 against the Hawks.
Cleanthony Early ‘out’
The Knicks are giving a second chance to Cleanthony Early. Early played power forward in college, but he’ll switch to a swing role professionally. He measured six-foot-seven and 209 pounds at the combine, so he could even be a 4-man in a small-ball lineup. He has excellent top-end and lateral quickness, and he plays with a relentless intensity that makes him a difficult match-up for opponents.
Mitchell Robinson ‘out’
New York Knicks guard Mitchell Robinson will undergo surgery on his fractured right hand on Tuesday. Robinson will miss 4-6 weeks. He was expected to become a restricted free agent following the surgery. The NBA big man is prone to hand and foot injuries, and his reckless play has incurred two fractures already. In just over 20 minutes of action on Friday night, Robinson had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
