The Secrets of a Macbook
If you’ve got a brand new Macbook and don’t know what it does, you’re missing out on some useful tips and tricks. These include the Keychain Access App, Spotlight search, Expose, Dragging the trackpad, and more. Read on to discover the secrets of your new Macbook.
Keychain Access App
If you’ve ever forgotten a password, the Keychain Access app for Macbook can help you recover it. Simply find the application under the Utilities folder in Applications. The app will then display a list of your stored passwords. You can then search for the one that you forgot.
The keychain is used to store login credentials for various websites and services. You can use the Keychain Access app to retrieve forgotten passwords and usernames. However, keychain access for Macbook requires authentication. It has two types: login keychain and non-login keychain. The login keychain is the default option. To access non-login keychain, you’ll need to enter an additional password upon startup.
Spotlight search
If you have problems using Spotlight search on your Macbook, you may have accidentally excluded certain folders from its index. This is easily fixed by selecting the “minus” icon next to the “Excluded folders” option and deleting the folder. Spotlight can now search through files and apps on your Mac. However, this process might not work if you have disk errors on your Mac.
The easiest way to access Spotlight on your Macbook is by pressing Command+Distance on your keyboard. When you press this key combination, a small box will pop out in the center of the screen. When you type a term into Spotlight, you’ll be able to see all possible results on your computer. However, if you need more specific results, you can also try using your browser. You can also use the full-screen mode to hide the menu bar at the top and the Dock on the bottom.
Expose
There are many hidden Mac shortcuts and features that you probably don’t even know you’ve got. If you have a new MacBook 2022 or an older model, you can learn how to use these tricks to become more productive. Many of us are stymied by quarantines, coronavirus lockdowns, and other security concerns, but these tips can help you get the most out of your MacBook.
Dragging trackpad
One of the secrets of a Macbook is the ability to drag. Dragging allows you to tap on an item on the screen and move your finger without lifting your finger. The selected item will then drag around the screen like if you were holding down the mouse button. The disadvantage to dragging is that it can be easy to accidentally drop items. To avoid this, you can turn on drag lock.
You can also use the three-finger gesture to select text or items within a list. This gesture works in all applications.
Taking screenshots
If you want to take screenshots on a Mac, you should be aware of the differences between PNG and JPG formats. While PNG files are smaller in size, they are not ideal for social media. That’s why it’s important to use JPG if you’re trying to save your screenshots to social media. To change your screenshots’ format, open Terminal and press Command+Space to select the desired option.
Alternatively, you can take screenshots by moving the mouse pointer over the window you want to capture. You will have the option to save the screenshot to the clipboard or to the desktop. You can also press the keyboard shortcuts Command+Shift+3 to take a screenshot of the active window.
